So other week me and the fam went apple picking. I had to come up with an idea on what to use all the apples or we bought half a bushel. One thing I knew I wanted to make was homemade apple sauce, it's so simple and so good, but I didn't want to waste all those cores and peels. So I had to come up with an idea on how to use them.
I thought back on my childhood and how going to the apple orchard, we would make apple cider. So I decided to attempt to make apple cider. It took a little while for me to get the cider but wow turned out really good. Now I need to turn this into a focaccia. One thing you would get at an apple orchard is an apple fritter. And an apple further into a focaccia well with a couple of attempts I created a fantastic Apple Fritter Focaccia.
The way I was able to get the apple flavor throughout, was I substituted the water for apple cider that I made and then I folded in the apple sauce. However, I had to dehydrate the apple sauce a little bit because it was too wet. Once it cooked it rehydrated and wow.
This is just another way I can take local produce and turn it into a local bread to sell to the community. Let me know if you have any other ideas you would like me to try to turn into a focaccia.
